Mobile dał nam się dziś we znaki. Dokładnie to nie “Mobile”, a tropikalny cyklon Cindy z epicentrum w miejscowości Mobile w Alabamie. Od Anne dowiadujemy się, że w Birmingham, 90 mil od Centre, miejscowości gdzie mieszkaliśmy pierwsze 2 dni, przeszło tornado. Zginął 10 letni chłopiec. U nas w Nashwille leje jak z cebra, a w epicentrum czyli w tym Mobile ponad to wieje z prędkością 65 mil/h (104 km/h). To jeszcze nic- wściekła Cindy goni nas, bo przemieszcza się dokładnie w naszym kierunku, z prędkością 16 km/h. Teoretycznie, jeśli nie zmieni kierunku Cindy dopadnie nas za ok 24 godz.

Startujemy w strugach deszczu spod muzeum Johny Cash’a na 3 Ave North. Potem biegniemy mostem nad rzeką (nie sosem) Cumberland, ulicą Chuck Berry, przez park Bobiego McFerrina, ulicą Herbiego Hancocka i Sahry Waughn w kierunku Bowling Green.

Strugi zmieniają się momentami w ścianę. Samochody widząc nas zjeżdżają z dużym wyprzedzeniem na przeciwny pas. Dziękujemy za to “piątką”. Często odmachują bądź trąbią. Zaledwie kilkakrotnie na setki mijających nas aut mieliśmy pełny prysznic spod kół. Nie dało się inaczej, widocznie też ktoś duży jechał akurat na przeciwko.

Amanda rozłożyła namiot z fajerwerkami dokładnie na granicy obu stanów: Tennessee i Kentucky. Ameryka przygotowuje się do Święta Niepodległości “The 4th of July”. Znów w powietrze zostaną wystrzelone miliardy dolarów, tak jak gdzie indziej na Nowy Rok. Amanda obiecała, że jeśli uda się jej biznes w tym roku, część zysku przekaże na cel charytatywny FCR 2017, budowę szkoły dla syryjskich dzieci. Teraz będzie łatwiej wpłacać bo właśnie otrzymałem wiadomość od naszego Gubernatora Radka, że można już przy wypłatach korzystać z PayPal.

W drugiej połowie drogi ulewy ustają. Czyżby “wściekła Cindy” zmieniła jednak zdanie? Czekając na Jacka i Mateusza ustawiamy się nie chcąco na wjeździe do domostwa. Pani za kierownicą widziała naszych kolegów i pyta się czy może nam jakoś pomóc. Opowiadam jej o biegu o naszym celu społecznym i charytatywnym.
