Nieco zdziwiło nas, że będąc w Kanadzie mamy biec do Odessy. To, że tu jest London z Windsorem łatwo zrozumieć, ale skąd ta Odessa?
Początkowo miejscowość nazywała się Millcreek , ale zmieniła nazwę na Odessa po brytyjskim udziale w Wojnie Krymskiej w 1854 r. Okazuje się, że Odess na świecie jest 18 i przynajmniej jedna słynie z hojności- ta przez którą biegliśmy.
Lioni z tej niewielkiej, bo liczącej 1 000 mieszkańców, miejscowości zebrali ponad 1 500$, a ich leader Dawid Shane twierdzi, że to jeszcze nie koniec. To kluby Bath Lions, Amherstview Lions oraz panie z żeńskiego Napanee Lioness Club.
W efekcie daje to średnią ponad 1,5 $ na jednego mieszkańca. Gdyby w innych miastach ich mieszkańcy byli równie hojni i dobrze zorganizowani, wówczas na naszej trasie z Windsor do Montrealu powinniśmy zebrać kilka milinów dolarów. Może się uda? Cuda przecież się zdarzają. Na razie jednak nasz ambitny cel to 100 000.
Tę hojność zawdzięczamy wspaniałym jej mieszkańcom w tym przede wszystkim ich wspaniałemu liderowi Dawidowi Shane. Dziękujemy Dawid!
Dobiegamy do Kingston. W parku Ontario Lake czeka na nas grupa lokalnych Lionow. Opowiadamy o naszej misji. Jest miło i serdecznie. Całą organizację zawdzięczamy DG Markowi Kelso, z którym w piątek zobaczymy się w Montrealu oraz Ronowi Duesharm.

We were a bit surprised that while in Canada we had to run to Odessa. The fact that London with Windsor is here is easy to understand, but where does Odessa come from? Initially, the village was called Millcreek, but changed its name to Odessa after British participation in the Crimean War in 1854.
It turns out that there are 18 towns called Odessa in the world and at least one is famous for its generosity – the one through which we ran through. Lions Club members from this small town of 1,000 inhabitants have raised over $ 1,500, and their leader David Shane says that this is not the end. These are the Bath Lions, Amherstview Lions and the Ladies from the Nappanee Lioness Club.
As a result, this gives an average of more than $ 1.5 per capita. If in other cities their inhabitants were equally generous and well organized, then on our route from Windsor to Montreal we should collect a few million dollars. Maybe it will work? Miracles happen. For now, however, our ambitious target is 100,000.
